Lake Sakakawea stretched over 70 miles between New Town and Williston ND. Of 4213 miles of maps this section was the only portion of the trip that Adventure Cycling deemed it necessary to give a warning of safety...Over 70 miles without services...No food, no water...No nothing. Although it was a one day trip I packed 2 days of water and food with me in case of bicycle mechanical failure. I was lucky, I made it to Williston in one day. The bad news...I ate granola bars for lunch and dinner for the next 2 days.
