Many mornings in Eastern and Central Montana I tried to beat the wind by getting up early. I tried to be on the road by 430AM. Before the sun came up the landscape was very quiet. Within 2-3 minutes of the sun presenting itself the wind started to howl. It was at that point each morning that I would find out how difficult of a day I would have as the wind would be at my back or blowing at me preventing me to reach the Rockies in a timely manner.
