Grand Teton National Park

Grand Teton National Park is located north of Jackson WY and south of Yellowstone National Park. The above pictures are 3 different views of the Cathedral Peaks of the Teton range.

The Tetons are a great place to hike, explore, and view wildlife. I knew I was in for a treat when while paying the park's admission a large moose walked across the road about 25 feet in front of my vehicle. Later in the day I spotted a mother moose and her baby taking a leisurely dip in a small pond.

Sandhill Cranes

These photos were taken near Waupaca WI. The cranes pictured were just four of a group of ten that were feeding near a cornfield in the hot August sun on a Sunday afternoon.
The other 2 pictures were taken in Big Falls, about 10 miles north of Waupaca. The farm roads around Waupaca supply bicyclists with many enjoyable rides. Most of the miles you ride will be shaded by tall pine trees.

Mountain Goats

Photo taken late summer 2007. The mountain goats were seen while hiking on Hidden Lake Trail in Glacier National Park. When hiking on this trail you are almost certain to see a few mountain goats. Four years ago while on the same trail my brother-in-law, wife, and myself saw well over 30 goats. One of the goats ran us off the trail.

Big Boat

We recently took a Caribbean cruise. Our home for 7 days was the Carnival Legend. The top photos were taken while ported in Cozumel. The bottom photo was taken off the coast of Belize. Because of shallow water the ship was unable to dock inland. Several small boats "tendered" passengers to and from the mainland.

Click here for details on the Carnival Legend. It's an impressive boat!

Glacier Drumlin Bike Trail

Named for the glacier-formed elongate hills viewable from the 47-mile winding trail which runs from Waukesha to Cottage Grove. Following the path of the old Chicago and Northwestern Railway that operated in the 1880s, it goes through the neighboring communities of London, Jefferson, and Deerfield. It offers an enjoyable route for hikers, bikers, and snowmobilers traveling the countryside and farm lands of southern Wisconsin.

The Glacier Drumlin Trail is an easy ride. The flat limestone surface is ideal for short or longer rides. The above pictures were taken the first weekend in October when temperatures reached 90 degrees. The third picture is the trail-head in Lake Mills. There you can park your vehicle and purchase a trail pass.

OLD FAITHFUL

I have to be honest...Old Faithful didn't blow my top. As one of Yellowstone's most popular attractions I arose bright and early to make sure I had a good seat for the geyser's show. The weather was great, however, there were maybe 50 people waiting for the geyser to blow its top. Old Faithful erupted 7 minutes early that morning. In the 3rd picture, Old faithful can be seen in the background.

Prince of Wales Hotel

The Prince of Wales Hotel is located in Glacier National Park-Waterton, which is the Canadian portion of GNP.

The above photo is of the Waterton Village. It was taken in back of the hotel.

The above photo was taken north of the hotel.

This is the view of the most expensive rooms in the hotel.

Badlands

Recently visited Badlands National Park. Unfortunately, the day was overcast, but there was no wind and the cloudy day provided cooler temperatures to explore the wastelands.

Sunny Day

I've seen sunflower fields in Wisconsin before, but never on my favorite bicycle route near my home. These photos were taken on Country Hwy "K" about 6 miles east of Columbus.

Timber Coulee

Timber Coulee is located near Coon Valley, WI...a short drive south of La Crosse. With the creeks well defined runs and pools, the Timber Coulee is a great place for novices attempting to learn the art of fly fishing.

Texas Wild Flowers

These photos were taken in March between San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Locals reported that the "wild flower window" is a 3 week period. When traveling along the interstate travelers were greeted with miles upon miles of wild flowers in the median as well as the prairies that roll along side the pavement.

D.C.

Recently, my Aunt and her childhood friend visited D.C. in hopes to start a campaign to change the colors of the United States flag from red, white, and blue to moldy green and coward yellow (packer colors). Luckily, President Bush heard about this cause and quickly stated that he would veto any legislation involving changing the colors of the flag of the United States. Upon hearing this, the coalition, headed by my mis-guided Aunt and the childhood friend decided to join the Peace Corps. They were both quickly shipped off to the island of Lesbos-Mega located 126 miles off the coast of Angola, Africa. While there, they were stationed to teach the natives proper hygiene and how to use silverware. During their 3rd "silverware" presentation they were both placed in a huge pot of boiling water and then quickly eaten with plastic "sporks".

The two photos below are the last of their legacy.

U.S.S. Kentucky

On a recent trip to Corpus Christi, TX we toured the U.S.S. Kentucky. The Kentucky, a decommissioned aircraft carrier, served in WWII and is available for tours. The tours are not guided. I was surprised with the access we had to the ship. The ship reminded by of a complicated realm of caves and caverns. The ship looked massive from the outside. It seemed even bigger on the inside. This attraction was worth the minimal price of admission.

Gruene, TX

Resisting change since 1872...This is the motto of Gruene, TX. Located 35 miles north of San Antonio, Gruene is what I call a "hippy town". The towns consists of several small shops that are owned or operated by persons whom time has stopped. Rejects from the 60's & 70's, these people make and sell items no one wants...Including $10 containers of sweet pea laundry soap (I love my wife very much).

Should you visit? Yes, but only schedule a couple hours to do so.
