Mexican Hat & Forrest Gump

Mexican Hat, UT is named after the rock formation pictured above. The formation is northeast of Mexican Hat city limits. The curiously sombrero shaped rock is 60 feet tall and 12 feet wide. Mexican Hat is a great city to use as a home base to explore southeast Utah. Monument Valley, Valley of the Gods, and Natural Bridges National Monument are just a few of the historic sites that can be explored in the area.
Does the above photo look familiar? Think..."life is like a box of chocolates"...Forrest Gump! The scene in the Oscar winning film in which Forrest decides to go home after jogging across the United States countless times was filmed at this spot.
