Lake Kegonsa State Park ~ Wisconsin

Is there anything better than hiking in fresh powdery snow when the temperature is less than 10 degrees? Of course there is...but when you live in Wisconsin there isn't many options when you're suffering from a slight case of cabin fever. Lake Kegonsa State Park is located southeast of Madison near Stoughton. The park was established on August 12, 1962.

The park's 343 acres has oak woods, prairie, and wetlands.

Although they were difficult to find on this wintry day, the park has 5 miles of hiking trails.

Lake Kegonsa State Park is located on the northeast shore of Lake Kegonsa. Lake Kegonsa is 30 feet deep and covers 3209 acres. The lake is well known for its ice fishing opportunities.

Other winter activities include cross country skiing...and sledding!
