What A Shame...

I witnessed a tragedy today. While jacket shopping in Whitefish, MT I spotted this classic blue Schwinn in the very back of a clothing store. It was being used to add a certain style to display racks of bluejeans and other underwhelming clothing. What a shame! This bicycle needs liberated! This is an equivalent of placing a thoroughbred race horse out to pasture before its time...its like placing a seasoned athlete in a convalescent home when there are still pennants to win or touchdowns to score. This bicycle needs to be ridden so it can feel the cool Montana pavement on its tires and the crisp northwest air run through its spokes on a downhill descent.

On second thought...it would look great in my backyard.

Bicycles With Character

There are all kinds of bicycles...fast, slow, new, old, vintage, racing, comfort, cyclocross, mountain, road, commuter, touring, cruiser...the list goes on and on. My favorite are bicycles with character, bicycles that tell a story about not only the bicycle and where it has traveled, but about its rider also. I spotted these bicycles near the capitol last night. I counted well over 100 bicycles chained or parked on racks, trees, benches or anything that could substitute as an anchor. Almost all of the bicycles had lots of character.

San Francisco Bike Ride

Although the weather was foggy and rainy, I had the pleasure of bicycling in San Francisco over Thanksgiving 2009. I always wanted to know how I would do on the cities famous steep hills...I did just fine. The high-lite was pedaling across The Golden Gate Bridge. It was a glorious day of bicycling!
